We are paleontologists!

Today we had so much fun becoming paleontologists at school!
Some of us loved it so much that we want to be one when we grow up!
First we read a poem and looked at a book to help us learn about what  job these scientists do and how dinosaur fossils were created.
Then we began searching for our very own  "fossils"! We pretended  the chocolate bits in biscuits were "fossils".  We had to work carefully and slowly with toothpicks to dig the bits out! It took a very long time and we had to be very patient!
Once we had found all the "fossils" we counted them and recorded this information on our sheet.
Finally we got to eat our "fossils"- yummy!

We also created dinosaur worlds from old shoe boxes, material and natural objects from around the school. This was lots of fun and we all had different ideas about what we wanted to include in our worlds.

Cross Country and More!

Wow! What an amazing day we have had.
Lots of creativity at Discovery time today.
We created miniature dinosaur worlds using the fresh playdough that we made with Janine.
We loved the feeling of warm playdough in our hands!
We experimented with objects to see what different sounds we could make. We made lots of interesting sounds- some quiet and some quite loud!

Thank you Olive and Ryia for bringing your beautiful butterflies for us to make.

Today we also had our school cross country at  the Marshall-Lee's family farm. We were so lucky to have such a beautiful sunny day for it! We all tried our very best to run as fast as we could around the course.  We are so proud of you!
A huge thank you to all the parents and grandparents who helped walk us safely  to the event and for encouraging us around the course.

We have also been having lots of fun in Maths learning about Algebra.  We used lots of different equipment to make colour and number patterns! Check these out.

 Great team work!

Welcome Back!

Our class has gone absolutely wild about learning this term !
Make sure you come in and have a look at our classroom, but be careful of the  African animals and dinosaurs that you may find lurking around our classroom this term!
We have already had a very busy start...

The laptops and iPad were very popular choices at Discovery Time.  We are really good at helping each other.
We used them to practice our phonics and drawing skills. Check out these cool houses created on KIDPIX.

We experimented with a variety of objects to see if wind could move them.

We enjoyed a visit from Riley B's very cute guinea pig.

We hope that you enjoy some of the surprises we made for Mothers' Day.
Have a very happy Mothers day!
