We love hockey!

We are getting really good at controlling the ball and love practicing our new skills.

Hockey has become a very popular choice during morning tea and lunch time!
On Tuesday we will a have fun festival of hockey in which we will play in a mini tournament with the rest of the  junior school!  We can't wait!

Measurement, Music and More...

We were again doing lots of measuring and problem solving  at Discovery time today. Lots of different measuring tools came out- scales, cups, spoons, bottles, jugs.
Lots of children enjoyed working with Judi to solve the problem "How many bottles of drink would we need so that all 40  children in Rooms 6& 7 could have a drink?".
First we measured how many cupfuls were in a bottle and then we had to use our addition skills to work out how many bottles we would need for the whole class!
We carefully measured half a teaspoon of drinking powder into a cup and mixed our own drinks! Mmm- very refreshing on such a lovely warm day!

We solved more problems through experimenting!

The scales came out so we could compare the weights of 2 or more objects!
We had lots of fun trying to balance an orange with teddy bears!

We enjoyed getting outside in the sunshine.
Mr Mullan even came along to help teach us to skip!
Thank you Naomi who came along and got us making awesome music!
We have a group of very enthusiastic young guitar and ukelele players emerging!

Well done James!
A very caring and helpful young man who is clever at making cubes using paper templates!

Small changes are always good!

Everyone in our classroom is getting a little older, a little taller and a litlte more clever each week.
Our classroom changes a little each week as well.
If you haven't seen, we have a recount corner where we are sharing our published work.

We are learning to be great writers.

The word wall has been revamped!

We have focused on this wee guy a lot lately.
I'm sure we can all spell and read it now!

Our picture planning is getting better.......

 and better........

and better!

Well done Room 7 on so much writing these past two weeks.
I am proud of your efforts.

Spring and Measurement Fun!

Spring is here!
Today we placed some beautiful daffodils in coloured water to see what would happen.
Check out the results!
 Why have they changed colour?
Leave a comment for us if you think you know!
We also made our very own pet rocks.
We used the digital scales to measure how heavy they were.
We used rulers to measure how tall and wide they were.

A huge thank you to James and Maggie who helped lots of children to make boxes for their pet rocks to live in. You are experts!
